In w/c 29 June, our twelve teams suffered only two losses, all three of our ladies teams winning their matches that week. Ladies A & Mixed A are well placed for promotion, with Ladies B & Mens C also in with a good chance. Most of the other teams are comfortably mid table with just three scheduled weeks to go.

Katy Hancock beat the reigning Champion Tracy Fieldsend 6 - 1 in the final
to become the youngest Ladies Champion at Wootton Bassett Tennis Club. There
were 10 players taking part in the tournament, Liz Lewis won group 2 with
Marilyn Hanratty as runner up, Katy won Group 1 with Tracy as runner up. In
the semi-finals Tracy beat Liz and Katy beat Marilyn. Katy won all of her
matches in the tournament.
Jackie Wood won the plate competition, just beating Mary Lou Carroll in a tie
break.
Phil Hedditch won the Mens Singles Club Championships for the second time. In a tense, gruelling final he beat Paul Barrett in a tie-break. Mike Fieldsend won the Plate competition.
Liz & Julian became the first pair this season to take a set from David Lloyd A when they won their first set 6-2 during last week’s match on David Lloyd’s astroturf courts.
Ladies A are still undefeated after seven matches.

The Ladies A team and the Bs are unbeaten so far. So too are the Men’s B with a good 8-0 win over Ramsbury who had their revenge when they beat our Mixed team 6-2.

A number of our teams registered their first point(s) of the season. The Men’s B settled for a draw at Great Bedwyn after being 3-1 down at half-time. The Mens D had a good win at Aldbourne and the Ladies A beat Swindon B 7-1. The Ladies B are still unbeaten after a draw at Minety, as are the Mixed A who beat Marlborough at home. The Mixed Bs too had their first point of the season after drawing on the shale at Nalgo.

This year we will try to keep you up to date with how all our teams are doing. News from the first week of competition includes the Men’s A getting off to winning start and the Mixed A notching up a great win over Burbage, thanks to Tracey Fieldsend and Phil Hedditch taking a set off a very strong 1st pair.
