I’ts that time of year when the club needs to celebrate the end of the 2009 Summer Tennis Season!
To celebrate 2009 we are holding a Caribbean Beach Party!
You have just 3 weeks to sort out your wildest , loudest shirts and shorts/ grass skirts. Fancy dress is essential- but optional!
We have arranged for the JAMMA steel band to play .
Original Caribbean food will be provided by the Swindon Caribbean Lunchtime Club.
There will also be all sorts of stalls, games and competitions are being held. Then the limbo dancing !!!
DATE: Saturday 26th September
VENUE: Memorial Hall Wootton Bassett
TIME: from 5pm onwards games, raffles, lucky dip, wii tennis, beach volleyball etc etc 6pm food, then annual presentations and ceremonies 8pm Jamma steel band music, limbo dancing 9pm raffle and prizes for best dressed and limbo.
9.15 till 11pm dance!
The bar will be open all evening
We are limiting the event to 140 people, so please get your tickets early to avoid being left out in the cold.

As you are probably aware we have bad weather forecast for the next few days with Severe Weather Warnings in place for some areas. With this in mind we have decided to postpone the Family Fun Day that is scheduled for tomorrow and reschedule for later in the summer - probably early in September. We will keep you posted on a revised date and apologise for the short notice.
In w/c 29 June, our twelve teams suffered only two losses, all three of our ladies teams winning their matches that week. Ladies A & Mixed A are well placed for promotion, with Ladies B & Mens C also in with a good chance. Most of the other teams are comfortably mid table with just three scheduled weeks to go.

Katy Hancock beat the reigning Champion Tracy Fieldsend 6 - 1 in the final
to become the youngest Ladies Champion at Wootton Bassett Tennis Club. There
were 10 players taking part in the tournament, Liz Lewis won group 2 with
Marilyn Hanratty as runner up, Katy won Group 1 with Tracy as runner up. In
the semi-finals Tracy beat Liz and Katy beat Marilyn. Katy won all of her
matches in the tournament.
Jackie Wood won the plate competition, just beating Mary Lou Carroll in a tie
break.
